This is a 12-month appliqué BOM combined with a home sewing machine embroidery workshop using Presencia™ Perle Cotton #16 in the top of the machine. While the embroidery accents may be accomplished using ordinary thread, the #16 perle cotton will add textural dimension to your blocks and also add a new tool to your quilting toolbox. See the Materials List for information on where to find Presencia™ Perle Cotton #16. You may also choose to add the embroidery by hand if so desired. Showcased are two quilts, each using nine of the twelve blocks. Find Presencia™ Perle Cotton #16, 5 gm balls, at www.redworkplus.com/
Reminiscent of vintage watercolor floral prints from the 1800s, Antique Botanicals uses a warm, creamy batik for the background with earth tone batiks for the frames. Tropical Botanicals uses a watery, aqua batik for the background with the bright, cool colors of the tropics for the frames.

Thank You! Island Batik for a wonderful year of opportunities!
Island Batik asked their Ambassadors to interpret the New Beginnings theme in any way they desired. The name of the January Blog Hop evokes so many ideas.
I had the privilege to use Island Batik's Coastal Mist Collection. These misty sea colors were perfect for interpreting the the theme with a New BeginningsBaby Bag for that precious new beginning.
Every new parent needs all the storage they can get. The pieced chevron panel was fun to make and creates four pockets on the outside of the bag by the placement of the comfortable handles. The inside of the bag sports another pocket and plenty of room to carry all those baby necessities.
See the New Beginning Blog Hop list below for more wonderfully creative ideas from Island Batik Ambassadors

Golden windows glowing through the snow filled air. This evokes memories of walking home from the bus stop in the cold winter evening. Seeking the lights glimmering through the trees. HOME! It was a cottage on the frozen lake rather than a cabin in the words but we usually had the requisite snowman in the yard and hot chocolate by the fire.

One thing that we have bountifully, this time of year. is leaves. On a good year, our beautiful state of Michigan will dress herself out with reds, yellows and amber gold. Every year when she is tired of her finery she just sheds them on our yard. And, so starts the yearly clean up.
Amber's Leaves was inspired by a series of paintings by my niece. It seemed only fitting to name this little 12" x 42" table topper after her.
